Stone Abrasives and Welding Products

Many different types of stones vary according to their intended use. Among these, the most commonly used stone models are cut stones. Depending on the current size and design, it can be used in different places.

What are Cut-Off Wheels?

Cut stone is the stone whose every surface has been specially carved and smoothed and can be used in buildings. Hence, it is a stone model generally used for flat areas. It is generally used outdoors and has a durable structure. Due to the durability of the cut-off wheels, we can say that it provides a budget-friendly use by minimizing the operation costs in long application processes.

What are Grinding Wheels?

A grinding wheel is a precision product with thousands of cutting points and abrasive minerals held in one spot by the binder matrix on its surface and separated from each other by pores. A grinding wheel is also known as an abrasive. The pores on the stone's surface are the corrugated spaces between the adjacent abrasive minerals and the binder, providing space for coolant penetration and residual metal parts during grinding.

What kind of abrasives are used in Grinding Wheels?

Three types of metals are used in grinding wheels: AO, ZR and CR.

Aluminum Oxide (AO) It is generally recommended for grinding high tensile strength materials such as stainless steel and tool steels. Still, it can also be used on some aluminum and bronze alloys with high tensile strength. Aluminum oxide is produced in various qualities.

Zirconium Alumina (ZR) It is designed to be used in demanding grinding applications requiring excessive stock removal. The sand in question has been developed with high-tech resin binders.

Chromium (CR); Much harder than standard aluminum oxide, with a very sharp abrasive grit. It is a versatile material recommended for grinding relatively soft metals such as aluminum or cast iron, but it can also be used on tough materials such as cemented carbide.

Which grinding wheel grade should I choose?

The grade indicates the relative holding power of the binder that holds the abrasive minerals on the stone.

Soft Grade:

• For hard materials such as hard tool steels and carbides

• For larger contact areas

• For rapid stock removal

Hard Degree:

• For soft materials

• For small or narrow contact points

•For longer stone lifetime

Choosing the Right Grinding Wheel

Uygulama yapacağınız alan için doğru taşlama taşı seçerken bazı faktörlere dikkat etmeniz gerekebilir. Bunlardan bazılarını özetlemek gerekirse;

  • What is the material type and hardness you will apply?
  • What kind of machine will you use? At this point, be sure to consider the power of the machine.
  • What will be the grinding speed and feed rate?
  • What is the grinding contact area size and hardness?
  • Will the grinding process be done in the dry area or the wet area?

What is OSA approval?

OSA, Abrasive products safety organization, is a system that inspects and secures cutting and grinding operations internationally. BRIO brand grinding wheels are safe. All BRIO-branded abrasive products are produced and tested to OSA standards.

What is Flap Disc?

Flap discs are abrasive machines used to sand metal and obtain a smooth surface. This part is attached to the end of the angle grinder. Thanks to the sandpaper-like roughness on the flap disc surface, they help you to get rid of the burrs on the covers.

Where is Flap Disc Used?

Flap discs are often used to etch metals. In addition, this disc is also used for sanding marble. When used on metals, they remove burrs and roughness on the surfaces and ensure that the characters are ready for joining. In the same way, they release the protrusions on the surface and provide a smooth surface. Like standard sanders, flap discs have numbers. Choosing the correct number of flap discs for the suitable material and the right job is essential.
